In America, the early performances of Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely have put her in the child prodigy category. For a child of Irish origin, and surrounded by gifted parents and family, these were very natural traits. Maureen was born in Ranelagh - a suburb of Dublin the capital of Ireland on 17 August 1920. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lulburn FitzSimons was a talented contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed the business of Dublin as well as owned a part of the well-known Irish soccer club "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the second child from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed the wonderful family. Maureen enjoyed playing sports as a kid and excelled in sports. Furthermore her talent, she also had a knack acting. In the end, she was awarded almost all of the Feis Awards for acting and dramatic performances in her country of birth. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14 as she continued to pursue her dream of opera as well as classical theater and singing.
